Veterinarian
Dr. Kathy Murphy is a compassionate and dedicated veterinarian who blends the art of traditional veterinary medicine with the healing benefits of acupuncture, chiropractic care, and ultrasound. With a deep-rooted passion for alternative therapies, she has become a trusted resource for pet owners seeking holistic treatment options that prioritize both the well-being and comfort of their beloved animals.
Dr. Murphy earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. Following her graduation, she completed an intensive one-year internship in sports medicine, surgery, and reproduction at Performance Equine Associates in Texas. For over a decade, Dr. Murphy practiced as an equine veterinarian, focusing on sports medicine, helping countless animals recover from injuries and achieve peak performance.
In 2009, Dr. Murphy’s passion for alternative healing led her to complete advanced acupuncture training through the Chi Institute, earning recognition as a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA). This training, combined with her expertise, allows her to provide pets with relief from pain, improved mobility, and a greater quality of life through gentle, non-invasive techniques. In 2013, she further expanded her skillset by obtaining a chiropractic certification from Options for Animals, ensuring she could offer comprehensive care that addresses both musculoskeletal health and overall wellness.
At LifeCare Pet Hospital, Dr. Murphy works closely with the veterinary team to provide personalized care plans that combine conventional treatments with her specialized skills in acupuncture, chiropractic care, and ultrasound diagnostics. Her holistic approach allows her to offer pets relief from chronic pain, improved mobility, and enhanced well-being, ensuring that every patient receives individualized care tailored to their needs.
Outside of her practice, Dr. Murphy is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Equine Practitioners. She also dedicates her time to volunteering with CHAMP Volunteer Chiropractic Services, where she offers monthly chiropractic exams to therapeutic riding horses—giving back to animals in need of healing and support.
In her free time, Dr. Murphy enjoys training her three corgis and one Bohemian Shepherd, competing in dog agility events that showcase their remarkable energy and teamwork.
With her compassionate approach, deep expertise, and dedication to providing holistic, high-quality care, Dr. Murphy is committed to improving the lives of every pet she meets. Whether through acupuncture, chiropractic care, or advanced diagnostic techniques, she strives to ensure that every pet experiences a life of comfort, vitality, and happiness.
